Surface pretreatment with high efficiency: plasma cleaning of plastic, metal, aluminum, and glass
Openair® plasma surface pretreatment and plasma cleaning provide the optimal prerequisites for subsequent coating of plastic, metal, aluminum or glass.
Dry plasma cleaning with atmospheric plasma makes it possible to immediately continue processing the materials. The application allows a clean and cost-effective overall surface pretreatment process. Because of the high energy level of the plasma, it can selectively break open the structure of chemical or organic substances on the surface of the material. Using ultrafine cleaning, undesirable substances can be completely removed from even sensitive surfaces. This results in the optimal prerequisites for later coating.
Cleaning deep into the pores of a surface with Openair® plasma. No mechanical damage to the surface, no wet chemistry, environmentally-friendly process.
Safe, ultrafine cleaning of mold release agents, additives, softeners (plasticizers), and hydrocarbons
Micro-fine plasma cleaning removes even the smallest dust particles from plastics, which at first adhere firmly to the surface because of the additives. The plasma causes the particles to detach completely from the substrate. The reject rates valuable paintwork or coatings, such as in the automobile or mobile communication industries, are greatly reduced. By using the chemical-physical reaction in the nano range, high-quality, precisely defined surfaces are achieved.
Griesser AG in Switzerland was the first company in the world to achieve environmentally-friendly surface pretreatment of aluminum strip using Openair® plasma, which avoids the generation of thousands of tons of contaminated waste water annually.
Successful research work in the area of cleaning marks Plasmatreat’s close cooperation with wfk - Cleaning Technology Institute e.V., a German research institute. Graffiti removal with Openair® plasma is an alternative to previous methods that is both outstandingly environmentally friendly and saves resources.
New Research and Testing Equipment for Highly Technical Surface Treatment
Plasmatreat constantly faces shifting demands as a result of new ideas, regulations, and standards. Customers are increasingly approaching the company with unique and innovative project requests. Consequently, the capacities of the technology and research center will now be expanded to include a class-6 cleanroom.
Comprehensive Process Control for Openair-Plasma Systems
Plasmatreat supports digitized manufacturing with its Plasma Control Unit (PCU) and makes numerous controls, regulation, and monitoring functions available to ensure consistently high surface-treatment quality and reproducibility.
Plasma Instead of Chemicals – Using Openair-Plasma to reduce VOC Emissions
VOCs occur when solvents and solvent-containing products are used, and they are harmful to the environment. Nevertheless, manufacturing in many industries still involves pre-treating surfaces with primers, bonding agents or other chemicals that release VOCs. With its Openair-Plasma process, Plasmatreat offers an environmentally friendly alternative.
